As part of the ZÉLÉS editorial team, the 'Together From Afar' workshop was designed for the 2020 European Architecture Students Assembly (EASA), exploring new ways of encountering others and appreciating people’s zeal, an antidote to apathy—(which was the theme of the 2020 edition). ZÉLÉS was a magazine about people and their ‘zeal’ as conveyed through varying forms of portraiture and storytelling. The workshop, which associated 27 students located in 15 different countries, began in the summer of 2020 and took three years to complete. A large concertina exquisite corpse drawing travelled the world from one participant's home to another—lost and found again in the mail—before returning to London, where it was received at a grand banquet dinner. The dinner, designed to counter the notion of “together from afar,” featured food served directly onto the table, encouraging guests to eat with their hands as a tactile response to the distanced, sanitized years of COVID-19. On the same evening, the drawing was completed.
