At AP5 (Architecture, Landscape, and Urbanism) in Paris, I developed a prototype for a mobile structure commissioned by the urban vertical dance company Retouramont. Designed for a future choreography, the structure needed to perform a range of dynamic functions: standing stationary, rolling, tipping on its sides, and ultimately flying while supporting up to three dancers.
The overall form—a tensegrity structure combined with a double-ring wheel—had been conceptualized, but the detailing of joints and assembly mechanisms required development. The challenge lay in minimizing metal joinery in favour of rope-based connections, aligning with Retouramont’s ethos and practice.
